This Swiss chard soup is great to make anytime. Combination of potato with beautiful dark green color of chard make this soup taste amazing.
Last time I was in farm market and I saw a beautiful Swiss chard with all goodness dark green color.
It reminded me when I was young, we didn’t cook too much with chard because most of the time my mom didn’t know how to use it till one later afternoon. She fried some Swiss chard with nuts, seeds and tofu on the pan. It was dedicates. I was so surprised that Swiss chard taste so good.
Since then, I love to cook with this vegetable, for example I create this easy chard soup what everyone will love.

Chard has a beautiful dark color leafs and proved us with a lot of health benefits.
It’s funny because the name “Swiss Chard” didn’t come from Swiss. Original it came from Sicily in Italy. Legend says that one botanic from Swiss find this vegetable and named it Swiss Chard.
Swiss Chard is full of mineral and vitamins like A, K, vitamin C, magnesium. Swiss chard have a lot of antioxidants, beta-carotene, lutein.

Ingredients for Swiss Chard soup
Chard โ Swiss Chard is the main ingredients. For most of the people, it is hard to use, they don’t know how to cook with it. That’s why I create this simple soup to make it easy for everyone.
Leek โ for this soup, it’s great to use leek. Leek has a lot of health benefits it can lower blood pressure, cleans our body and help with nervous system
Potato โ if you are not eating potatoes, you can switch it for zucchini as well. I prefer potatoes in this chard soup recipe. Potatoes can help cleans liver, and they are a great source of fiber.
Parsley โ using herbs in soups are really important, with herbs we can tone or change the taste of the whole dish. Parsley has clean peppery taste, that make it great for all kind of dishes. This herb provides us with vitamin C and have a lot of antioxidants, which can help in heart disease, cancer or diabetes.
Onion red โ is a great base for this soup. Red onion has antiseptic and antibiotic benefits. If you would like, you can switch red for white onion.
Garlic – garlic make taste this soup great plus it has an amazing health benefits, for example strengthens immune system, prevents heart disease and have detoxification properties.

Ingredients
- 1 medium Swiss Chard
- 1 medium leek
- 2 large potatoes
- 1/2 cup parsley
- 1 medium onion red
- 1 small garlic
- 2 tbsp butter
- 700 ml Vegetables stock
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions
- First, sliced and wash your vegetables. Peel and cutpotatoes in square, sliced leek, onion in ring and chopped parsley.
- In large sauce pot heat butter,ย add onion and simmer till onion soften around 2-3 minutes then pressed garlic and mix all together.
- Add leek, chard, potatoes, parsley, and pour over vegetablesstock. Bring to boil then turn the heat in low and cooked 20 minutes or tillpotatoes are cooked.
- Serve immediately with some hemp seeds on top.
